Many stories come to me when I am able to turn off that language part of my brain that fills my head with words, and simply draw pictures. You often don’t know how a picture will turn out when you start drawing it (indeed, I don’t think you should even try to know that), and a surprising expression on a character’s face can tell me much more about their personal story than anything I could think up by myself. Most of the illustrations from the Mystic Travelogues were drawn while I was still writing the story, and they revealed important elements when I contemplated them while writing. Have a look at them here, without any written narrative, and see what stories come to you.
